in का प्रयोग किसी स्थान के अन्दर या समय की लंबी अवधि बताने के लिए किया जाता है

1;- किसी बंद जगह के अन्दर ;- जब कोई चीज किसी चीज के भीतर हो .

• किताब बैग में है - the book in the bag .
• वह कार में बैठा है - he is sitting in the car .
• पानी डिब्बे में है The water is in the container
• पेन बैग में है The pen is in the bag
• बॉक्स में पैसे हैं There is money in the box
• भारत में गांव है There is a village in India
• शहर में रोड है There is a road in the city
• शहर में स्कूल है There is a school in the city
• गांव में स्कूल है There is a school in the village
• मटके में पानी है There is water in the pot
• तालाब में ठंडा पानी है। The water in the pond is cold 
• कुए में in the well

• बोतल में ठंडा पानी है। There is cold water in the bottle 
• बोतल में दवा है। There is medicine in the bottle
• बरसात में गीला हो। wet in the rain
• गर्मी में पंखा है। There is a fan in the summer. 
• वह  सुबह में आता है। He comes in the morning.
• गर्मी में धूप है। It's sunny in the summer.
• दोपहर के समय में गर्मी है। It's hot in the afternoon. 
• शाम में ज्यादा नींद आती है। Feeling more sleepy in the evening
• सुबह में हम काम करता हूँ। In the morning I work. 

2;- बड़े स्थानों के लिए - शहर ,देश , महाद्वीप , 

• वह दिल्ली में रहती है she lives in Delhi 
• वे अमेरिका में यात्रा कर रहे है the are traveling in America .
• वह शहर में रहता है he lives in the city 
• वह इंदौर में घूम रहा है He is roaming around in Indore 
• वह शहर में बैठा है। He is sitting in the city
• he is playing in the garden 
• he is in the class 
• he is sitting in his car 
• he is in the Army 
• he is in the Navy 
• his brother is in the police 

वह घर में रहता है he lives in the house 

• he lives in the house . या फिर he lives at home .
• he lives in the house यह उस समय प्रयोग होता है जब आप किसी विशेष घर की बात कर रहे है 
• he lives at home यह उस समय प्रयोग होता है जब आप यह बताना चाहते है की वह अपने घर पर या परिवार के साथ रहती है 

3;- समय के लिए भी in का प्रयोग [ सुबह दोपहर शाम के लिए ] रात को छोड़कर 

• मेरा जन्म दिन जून मे है my birthday is in June 
• हम गर्मी में गाँव जायेंगे we will go to the village in summer 
• उसका जन्म 1919 में हुआ था he was born in 1999 
• हम बरसात में काम करेंगे। We will work in the rain
• हम दोपहर में स्कूल जाएंगे। We will go to school in the afternoon 
• हम शाम में पढ़ना सीखें। We learn to read in the evening 
• he will come back in two hours .
• i shall finish this work in 15 minutes.
• there are seven days in a week 

EXAMPLE 

• i live in India
• he lives in Delhi 
• we live in Asia 

जब किसी जगह के नाम का नहीं बल्कि उसके प्रकार के बारे में बात करते है [ गाँव , शहर , कस्बा , देश , रेगिस्तान , आदि ] पर हम in का प्रयोग करते है 

•  i live in a village .
• he lives in a city .
• she lives in a town .

4;- in का प्रयोग निम्न phrases के साथ भी होता है 

• in the morning 
• in the evening 
• in the night 
• in the afternoon 
• in the night कोई ख़ास रात 
• at night का मतलब कोई भी रात
